Yelp for Marketing
When it comes to finding your business online, there are few competitors to Google (see my article on How to Let Google Know About Your Business). However, one contender is the ultimate review platform known as Yelp!. 🥊 Now, you might be saying, “But Dillon, I don’t own a restaurant… why would I use Yelp for marketing?” 👨🍳 Well, that’s okay.
Creatures of Habit
When it comes to browsing the Internet, people stick to what they know. If you could look into your search history or “most visited websites” I’d be willing to bet 3 to 4 websites would stand out far above the rest. 📊
Now, let’s bridge that out to your potential customers and clients. It’s likely that they too heavily use 3 to 4 websites. So, if one of those websites is Yelp! for restaurant searches, it’s also more likely they’ll search for your business on there as well.
Where’s Your Business?
Since it’s likely some of your audience will look for your reviews on Yelp!, this means two things. First, if they do not find you on there, your business will immediately lose authority. Second, if they do find your business on there, they’ll be looking at your reviews. So if they’re looking for reviews, let’s be sure they have some to look at.
Mining for 5 Stars
When it comes to customers, there’s a great lesson to learn: Satisfied Customers Tell Three Friends, Angry Customers Tell 3,000 (Amazon Affiliate Link). Now there are many items from this book that can help with customer service, but what I’ve taken away is that you need to ask more satisfied customers to share their thoughts.
So, how do you go about asking customers for a review? What questions should you ask? Check out this article where I discuss how to go about asking for a review.
