Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, is a highly used term both by marketers and by web developers. The idea is that if you build the perfect website, your company, or brand, will come up for desired search results. However, there are several forms of SEO. In this article, I discuss a method for increasing what I like to call Brand SEO. We do this through the process of coattail SEO via the social networking platform, Facebook, and the Facebook Page.
First Off, What Is Brand SEO?
To keep it simple, Brand SEO focuses on improving the chance that your brand appears on the first page of Google search results. In this method, it doesn’t matter whether it’s your website or someone else’s website. The focus is simply appearing in search results.
A tactic I like to call coattail SEO utilizes websites that have already built authority in Google. One of the top companies that appears in Google’s search results is Facebook.com. The best part about it is they want you to create a business page!
Facebook Page Piggyback
Creating a Facebook Page has gotten easier and easier. The only real requirement is that you have a personal Facebook Account. On the Desktop version, there will be a ➕ symbol on the top right corner. You click this and there it is, “Page”.
These pages can be made for any brand or organization. So let’s make one for you! As you create the page, you’ll want to be sure to add as much details on your business as possible. By adding in these details, you’ll increase the ease in which people can search for your business.
Since Facebook has already built massive authority with Google’s search engine, these details will help your specific Facebook Page pop up first in those search results. Don’t believe me? Look up a local business on Google. More often than not, their Facebook Page will come up before their website!
